ABOUT POIPU |
|
|
|
Poipu is at the south end of the island on the leeward side. It enjoys light rainfall, warm days and cool nights. Water temperature varies only from 78 to 82 degrees over the year.
Poipu Beach is world famous with excellent snorkeling, body surfing (Brenneke's) and surfing and body boarding. Of course, you can also get a world class tan here with very little effort as our friend the Monk seal can attest to. He is a very docile animal that knows how to relax, so please don't make humbug!

Want to golf?
Kiahuna Golf Club and Poipu Bay Resort Course are both under 5 minutes. Kukuiolono Golf Course in our old hometown of Kalaheo is 15 minutes away. This course is an absolute bargain and offers incredible views. There are also courses in Lihue, Wailua and Princeville.

Tennis anyone?
One of the best facilities anywhere is right here in Poipu at Kiahuna Tennis Club. Of course, there are courts on the property. |
 |
 |
How about Windsurfing? Kaua'i has many world-class windsurfing locations on the south, west and north shores. Instruction is available for beginners.
Surfing?
Take a lesson from Margo Oberg (world champ). Rentals are available island wide. Pakala's, Sheraton and Hanalei are but a few spots to ride.
Snorkel and Dive?
Take a 4 minute walk and head out
from the first beach for a great snorkel. Or continue on to
world-famous Poipu Beach Park and snorkel in a very calm bay. If
diving is more your style, check in with Marvin at SeaSport Divers.
They can arrange for equipment, trips and training. |
